A\u011fac\u0131 20-25 metreye kadar boylanabilir ve y\u00fcz ya\u015f\u0131na kadar ya\u015fayabilir. Bu kestane t\u00fcr\u00fc \u00fclkemizde yeti\u015fen di\u011fer kestanelerden farkl\u0131 olarak daha k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck meyvelere sahiptir. Yap\u0131lan \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fcmler sonucu meyve a\u011f\u0131rl\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131n ortalama olarak 9-10 gram geldi\u011fi tespit edilmi\u015ftir. Meyve kabu\u011fu olduk\u00e7a ince olup kabu\u011fundan \u00e7abuk ayr\u0131lma \u00f6zelli\u011fi vard\u0131r bu Erfelek kuzu kestanesinin en \u00f6nemli \u00f6zelliklerindendir. Meyve kabu\u011fu kahverengi parlak ve i\u00e7 rengi de beyazd\u0131r. Tohum zar\u0131n\u0131n tohuma yap\u0131\u015fmadan kolayca ayr\u0131labilmesi de yine \u00f6nemli \u00f6zelliklerindendir. D\u0131\u015f kabu\u011fu dikenlidir ve kendi kendine d\u00f6ng\u00fc ile yeti\u015fen bir meyvedir ayr\u0131ca Erfelek<br>kuzu kestanesinde \u015feker oran\u0131 olduk\u00e7a y\u00fcksek olup lezzetli bir tada sahiptir. Kuzu kestanesi, erkenci olup ekim ay\u0131n\u0131n ilk g\u00fcnlerinden itibaren toplanmaya ba\u015flar.
